Student Summer Camp Report 2011

Greetings from SDD, Tamilnadu, India. Hope all are fine.

Herewith I am sending a report on .Student Summer Camp. for the year 2011 (Main Camp). The camp took place in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Palampet, Chetpet. As usual like last year, students were informed through individual letters and invited to the camp with the recommendations of concerned school headmasters, teachers and local body representatives.

It is significant that this year 33 boys and 33 girls totally 66 boys & girls were attended the camp. The Camp started on 6th Friday, May 2011 evening and concluded on 20th Friday Morning with an Educational tour. The tour arranged on 19th Thursday to Vedanthangal (Bird Sanctuary) and Mahabalipuram which is historical place ruled by King Pallava and very familiar for stone statues, with beautiful seashore place near Chennai.

A detailed time table prepared and adopted accordingly every day. Menu list for daily food preparation also adopted. All boys & girls were given Note Books, Pen, and Ink, Bathing materials reading materials, sports materials and nutritious food. Classes started regularly with the classes like Morning Drill, Yoga, Bathing, breakfast, English Class, Tea Break, Mathematics Class, and Lunch Break. In the afternoon session, Social Awareness, Leadership training, Tea Break, Evening Play, evening bath, Night Dinner, study time and cultural programmes etc., took place.

The following Teachers and Resource persons were took lessons and gave training on the various topics. Mr. Kumar (English), Mr. Subramanyam (Maths), Mr. Moorthy (Yoga), Ms. Meenakshi (Meditation), Mr. Rajendran (Drill), Mr. Selvaraj, Mr. Sampath (Health Education), Mr. Chandrasekar, Mrs. Vasantha, Mr. Ramalingam, Mr. Venkitesan, Mrs. Kousalya (Cultural Programmes), Mrs. Mahalakshmi and Mr. M. Manavalan (all are) took classes and trainings on the subjects of Social Awareness, Leadership Qualities, Child Rights, Right to Education Act, Current Affairs, and General Knowledge. A team under the cook Mr. Nagaraj, Mrs. Shakila, Mrs. Gomathi took care of food preparation and protection of children in the night staying. Mr. Amaladass, Head Master, Government Higher Secondary School, Mr. R. Neelakandan, Town Panchayat President, Chetpet, Mr. Pugazhendhi, Councilor, ward panchayat Chetpet, were attended the valedictory function of the camp and distributed prizes and merit certificates to camp students. Children utilized their holidays very useful and spent their time very meaning full with learning of school class subject.s knowledge and potential talents.

The camp also helped children to introduce each other and mingled to build a strong relationship. Potentials talents like singing, drawing, dancing, etc., explored. Mind relaxation, concentration and coordination skills brought up through yoga and meditation trainings. Through Child care counseling, Self-confidence, Leadership Quality, Analytical capacity also increased.

This camp hopes that children to get more interest to attend the school regularly and study well in the class and to score good marks in the school final examinations to enter higher secondary studies without break or dropout. The children expressed their heart full thanks to the donors and supporters.
