Given the fact that computer literacy today is a must for every student/job aspirant, recently SDD has opened a free computer training centre in its Chetpet Office. This centre is intended to provide basic computing skills free of cost to deserving candidates.

The Free Computer Education for this year started from the month of June 2010 and 2 more computers purchased for training purpose. Mr. Jeeva who finished Diploma in Computer Education is the in charge of the centre.
The computer centre started daily in the morning 9.00 AM and ended in the evening 7.30 PM. Most of the children are the school going children so that the children come to the centre probably in the mean time 5.30 – 7.30 PM. 3 Children learned training at a time. Syllabus has been drafted and implemented accordingly. In the Saturdays, and other Government public holidays the centre fully occupied by 10 children.
All the children who are coming to the training programme is very poor and they are living in below poverty line. Most of the children’s parents are engaging in the daily wages mostly in the construction works and agriculture coolie work. They get low income through this labour and they are not able to lead a nominal life in their families. So far 25 children enrolled in the computer education programme and the syllabus is the following:

Most of the parents are very happy that their children having computer knowledge by free of cost. This will help the children to attain the good knowledge and skills to search for good course as well as good job. The programme is going well. |
